Hosted or self-managed FileWave UEM
FileWave supports both hosted and self-managed endpoint management.
Choose FileWave hosting when you want FileWave to run the server environment, or self-manage FileWave on infrastructure your team controls.
Operational ownership
Decide who should run the server environment.
Hosted and self-managed FileWave use the same endpoint-management capabilities. The difference is who owns the server work. In either model, your team runs enrollment, policies, software delivery, patching, inventory, and reporting.
Hosted server operations
FileWave handles the hosting environment, routine backups, server upgrades, and SSL certificates. Your team still manages updates to administrator tools, enrolled devices, and any customer-managed Boosters or Imaging Virtual Servers. The hosted upgrade checklist explains what to check after a Server upgrade and which update steps apply to your versions.
Plan for self-managed server work
With self-managed FileWave, your server and network administrators own the infrastructure. Agree who will maintain backups, security updates, certificates, and recovery before rollout. The server setup guide explains the network and recovery planning for a new environment.
Plan migration and administrator training
For a move to hosting or new server infrastructure, FileWave Professional Services can help with migration, health checks, and administrator training. Identify who will run everyday device management after the move, then choose implementation help, training, or both. Review the Professional Services options.
