FileWave Self-Service Kiosk and App Portal
A self-service app portal without local admin rights.
FileWave Self-Service Kiosk lets users install IT-approved applications, profiles, books, documents, and other content while administrators keep control over what is offered and how it is assigned.
Operational value
Give users approved software without giving up IT control.
Choose automatic or self-service delivery
Use standard assignments to install content automatically, or Kiosk assignments to let users choose approved items and start the installation themselves.
Self-service without surrendering control
Because the FileWave process runs at root or system level on computers, end users do not need to be local administrators to install approved Kiosk content.
Different experiences by device type
Computer users open Kiosk from the macOS menu bar or Windows system tray. Mobile users use the FileWave App Portal. On FileWave 16.3 and later, iOS/iPadOS Kiosk is deployed through Apple Apps and Books.
What FileWave helps with
Build an approved app and content catalog.
Help users choose the right item
In Desktop Kiosk for macOS and Windows (FileWave 15.3+), users can search and filter by installation status or content type, then check the description, version, and size before installing. See the desktop Kiosk guide for the user experience.
Categories and search
Organize Kiosk content by department, class, application type, or other useful groupings.
Make Desktop Kiosk available
On macOS and Windows, install the FileWave Client and assign at least one Fileset as a Kiosk item to that computer. Without a Kiosk assignment, the Kiosk icon does not appear. See the Kiosk setup guide for access and assignment details.
Prepare iPhone and iPad self-service
On FileWave 16.3.0 and later, IT must sync with Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager and acquire enough free FileWave Kiosk app licenses for managed devices. This lets FileWave deliver the App Store Kiosk; users then choose from their assigned self-service content. See the iOS/iPadOS Kiosk deployment guide for setup and upgrade checks.
